Acquisition search for trade buyers and funded acquirers

Good businesses are rarely bought from a listings site. The businesses worth acquiring are usually not for sale on the day you decide to buy, and their owners will not respond to a generic approach. EXITS.co.uk works the other way round: we record what you are looking for, approach owners of businesses that match, and manage the confidential conversation that follows.

How a recorded acquisition requirement works

We take a written requirement covering the activity you want to acquire, the sector, the geography, the scale you can absorb and the strategic reason for the acquisition. That requirement is published in anonymised form in our business-wanted archive and used to approach owners directly. Your identity is not published, and it is disclosed to a shareholder only when both sides are taking the conversation seriously and confidentiality is in place.

Who this suits

The model works for trade acquirers extending capability, geography or capacity; for buy-and-build platforms with a stated acquisition strategy and funding already arranged; and for experienced individual acquirers with directly relevant operating experience. It works least well for parties who have not yet decided what they want to buy, because a vague requirement produces vague approaches and owners disengage.

Discreet origination

Approaches to owners are made discreetly and on a no-obligation basis. Many owners we contact are not actively selling; some are open to a conversation, and a proportion of those become transactions over a period of months or years rather than weeks. Nothing about an off-market conversation implies an instructed mandate, an agreed price expectation or a fixed timetable.

Qualification and information flow

Before information is released about any specific business, we establish who you are, the acquisition vehicle you would use, your funding position and your rationale, and we ask for a signed non-disclosure agreement. Information is then released in stages, at the level the owner has authorised. This protects the owner and it also saves you time, because it removes opportunities that were never going to fit.

Through to completion

Where a conversation progresses, we stay involved through heads of terms, diligence coordination and completion, working alongside your own legal and financial advisers. We do not provide legal, tax or investment advice.

Terms

EXITS.co.uk is a trading style of Exit Partners Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11721705). We operate a confidential M&A introduction service; fees are payable on a successful introduction that leads to a transaction, and full terms of business are available on request.
